KTW-BWGL certification, W270 certification
2022-10-19 16:59:04

KTW (Testing and Testing Accreditation of Non metallic Parts in German Drinking Water Industry) represents the authoritative department of the German Federal Health Department for drinking water system material selection and health assessment. It is the laboratory of German DVGW.

In March 2019, Germany issued a special health and safety regulation on materials contacting with drinking water, which clearly stipulates how to operate different materials to meet the safety requirements of drinking water in Germany. According to the requirements of the new regulations, each material has its corresponding control standards. The German UBA (Federal Environment Agency) manages most of these standards. In addition, DVGW also has some control standards.

In order to prove that the product meets the drinking water requirements of Germany, it needs to be tested and certified according to the corresponding regulations. From 2021, all water passing materials will be replaced by corresponding France (KTW-BWGL), and the original KTW certificate and W270 certificate issued by the original laboratory will become invalid. The test reports and certificates of other materials or components not covered by KTW-BWGL regulations will not be affected temporarily.

1. Materials affected by the new regulations:

For PPO, PPR, POM, PEX pipe, PVC pipe, aluminum plastic composite pipe, lubricating oil, paint, glass fiber, etc., the existing KTW/W270 certificates for these materials will become invalid on March 21, 2021 (except for those expired before this date).

2. Materials not affected by the new regulations:

Silica gel, EPDM, NBR, TPE, etc.

If the KTW-BWGL certificate is made, it contains the W270 test terms, so it is not necessary to make a separate W270 certificate.
